FSE 349 Co-Op

Students are expected to work with an employer doing something related directly to the core classes of their major. The employer and job assignment has to be approved via the co-op office and the Department Chair, Dr. William Hicks. If you attempt to use your current employer you will need to complete an assignment that is outside your normal work scope. You are required to earn three credit hours which is 240 hours of work with the employer (80 hours for every 1 credit hour). You can complete all three hours at one time or break them apart throughout your time at EKU (i.e. 1 hour SPRING 2018 and 2 hours Summer 2018). It is important to note though, that the work has to be completed for that credit hour during the semester or term it was approved. And each semester has to be approved in advance via the co-op office and Dr. Hicks.

Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher and be a junior or higher.

Once Dr. Hicks reviews the request, he will provide you with the step by step directions to set up your profile (or account) with the co-op office through their on-line system called Handshake.  Upon completion of the profile, the co-op office will complete the final steps of approval and register you for the course and hours requested for that semester.  You must be fully registered in both handshake and them show FSE 349 on your scheduled in the semester requested to get credit.  Again, the co-op office will register you for the course.  You can’t self-register for this course.  It will be done by the co-op office once the handshake approval process is complete.
